Montijo: Reviews & Ratings

This restaurant offers Spanish-style tapas, and the food is really, really good — full of flavor and beautifully prepared. Whether you’re in the mood for just a snack or want to build a full meal out of multiple small plates, the menu makes it easy to do both. The drinks are also very good, with a nice selection to accompany the food. The space is well set, and during summer, they open all the windows, which gives the restaurant an open-air feel that’s perfect for warm days. However, the atmosphere leans more towards a quiet Parisian bistro than a lively Spanish tapas bar. The service is… typically French. The staff are not particularly friendly or engaging. For non-French speakers, I’m not sure how smooth the interaction would be. So, while the food is excellent, I’d personally still be on the lookout for other tapas places in Paris that offer a more vibrant, welcoming, and authentic Spanish-style experience. This isn’t that kind of place. But if you’re okay with a more subdued, Parisian-style setting and just want great tapas without the fuss, it’s definitely worth a visit.

Another unforgettable evening at Montijo! The wine, appetizers, and ambiance were exceptional. Sharing some snapshots from my stay at Maison Eugénie - my second visit, and it just keeps getting better. My journey with Machefert Group Hotels began in 2016, and every stay has been an absolute delight. Here’s to many more memorable moments!!

Montijo, nestled in the heart of Paris at 167 Rue de Rome, brings a refined Spanish dining experience to the city’s culinary scene. This Spanish restaurant offers a thoughtfully curated menu that resonates with authentic flavors while embracing a subtle Parisian touch. At Montijo, the highlight lies in its outstanding selection of tapas and small plates, notably the Buffet Salé, Assiette Brunch Tortilla Bocata, and the ever-popular Pan Con Tomate Chorizo.

The Buffet Salé stands out as a gateway to a rich variety of savory bites, each prepared with a balance of tradition and finesse. The Assiette Brunch, featuring the classic Spanish tortilla alongside a perfectly toasted bocata, delivers a comforting yet elegant brunch offering that satisfies both casual diners and food enthusiasts. However, it is the Pan Con Tomate Chorizo that truly captures the essence of Spanish flavors — the vibrant tomato, the spicy chorizo, and the crusty bread unite into a dish that is at once simple and spectacular.

Customer experiences reflect a unanimous appreciation for the quality and authenticity of Montijo’s fare. The restaurant’s commitment to natural wines complements the food beautifully, weaving an intricate harmony between drink and dish that enhances the overall dining atmosphere. The décor and ambiance evoke a modern Hacienda, with cool music and well-thought-out space that opens up during summer, offering an inviting, open-air feel amid bustling Paris.

While the service leans towards the reserved Parisian style, the staff are helpful and knowledgeable, ensuring a seamless experience for those who prefer a quieter, more sophisticated environment to enjoy their meal. This blend of vibrant Spanish cuisine and calm Parisian charm creates a unique niche — Montijo is not the typical lively tapas bar but rather a place to savor carefully crafted flavors without distraction.

Overall, Montijo invites guests to indulge in Spanish culinary traditions with a polished Parisian elegance. Its small plates, especially the Pan Con Tomate Chorizo, linger in the memory, making each visit an opportunity to explore bold tastes and subtle nuances. For those seeking flavorful tapas accompanied by excellent natural wines in an understated setting, Montijo is a destination well worth discovering.
